City resumes planning and zoning livestreams

Posted

The city of Las Cruces has resumed livestreaming meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission as of Oct. 22, after a two-year hiatus.

Mandy Guss, the city’s communications director, confirmed the change to how meetings are presented for one of the city’s most important bodies. The city charter outlines the duties of the commission, which include reviewing the city's zoning, planning, and platting, investigating any problems in that space and making recommendations to the city council on development questions.

Guss said the city stopped streaming the meetings in Oct. 2022 when the communications department stopped streaming it because it had low viewership, and her department didn't have the staff capacity to cover it. But Guss said a request from a city councilor and more staff have allowed her department to resume streaming.

The live streams are broadcast on the city’s website and YouTube page.
