New Mexico State University Police arrested one suspect last week in connection with some on-campus burglaries and are asking the public for help in finding a second suspect.

NMSU Police report that campus police arrested Tyler Gutierrez, 18, on Friday, April 18th for non-residential burglary, burglary of a vehicle, conspiracy to commit non-residential burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary of a vehicle and injury or tampering with a motor vehicle.

NMSU Police are searching for a second suspect who remains at large and is believed to have been involved in the burglaries.

NMSU received a call about a suspicious white Chevrolet Tahoe in the Alumni and Visitors Center parking lot with all of its windows down. Officers canvassed the area and allegedly discovered burglary had occurred at a storage building associated with the Agriculture Department. Campus police also found a government-owned truck, located in the parking lot near the Alumni and Visitors Center, had also been burglarized, according to campus police.

According to Justin Dunivan, interim NMSU Police chief, NMSU police detained Gutierrez walking across the parking lot at College Drive and Knox.

Gutierrez is not a student, according to campus police.

Anyone with information about the at-large suspect should contact NMSU Criminal Investigator D. Pedraza at 575-646-3311.
