Three Las Cruces women were named this year among the “Top 50 Women Leaders of New Mexico” by a national publication and international professional organization.
Mandy Leatherwood Guss, the city of Las Cruces communications director; Mónica Torres, interim president of New Mexico State University; and Yu-Feng “Winnie” Lee, professor and department head of the economics, applied statistics and international business at NMSU, were included in the ranking, according to the Aug. 19 online issue of Women We Admire.
Guss has been Las Cruces’ communication director since 2020. She’s also previously held positions at Memorial Medical Center as a marketing director and community liaison.
Torres was appointed as NMSU’s interim president in March 2024. Before that, she was named chancellor of NMSU system community colleges and served as Doña Ana Community College’s 10th president.
Lee became director of the Department of Economics, Applied Statistics and International Business in 2019. She holds a doctorate from Southern Illinois University. Her concentration fields include international economics, economic development and growth, and international monetary systems.
